4th Annual Botes Baleeiros Rowing Tournament, Sat. 08/15/26

AMHS will be hosting the 4th Annual Botes Baleeiros Rowing Tournament on August 15th at the Community Boating Center in New Bedford. 

Join us for a fun race across Clark's Cove. Come experience rowing the only Azorean whaleboats in the United States and enjoy some good company & Portuguese snacks! This will be a fixed-seat, sweep oar-style rowing opportunity. Participants should be familiar with rowing commands and have some experience with sprinting and endurance rowing, but this is a low-key, friendly race and everyone willing to give it a try is welcome!!!

In-person, same-day registration will also be available! Just find us at the check-in table under the tent to pay your fee and sign the waiver.

Race Information

• $25/rower

• 7-person crew: 1 boat steerer, 6 rowers

• Boat steerers will be assigned by AMHS

• All other positions will be randomly drawn; stroke position may be assigned by AMHS if deemed necessary

• 3 boats (PICO, FAIAL, & BELA VISTA) race at a time; will race as many heats as needed 

• One final winner will be determined
